First I must comment on a first for me, no not my result, but me overtaking Geraint! Yes, I know it’s hard to believe but it happened. Well the full truth is he had just overtaken me and over cooked it on the next corner but, hey, they all count.
Back to the report, we set off at 07:00 hrs on a bright and dry day, it stayed dry buy it did cloud over later. I set off at 10:18 with big G 9 min’s behind me. The first check was tight for me and I lost 1 min, but the rest of the checks were ok.The problem for me was that the same check on the next lap had 3 min’s taken off, so I lost 2 more min’s on the 2nd lap and even more min off the 3rd lap! I was down 8 minutes overall so not too bad for me.
There was a bit of everything to enjoy, tight forest sections, fast fire roads, steep ups (and downs), slate streams, ruts, puddles and of course tight corners for big G to cock up.
The day ended with smiles on our faces as we had had a good day with no injuries and no damage to the bikes. I covered about 115 Km's and was on the bike for around 5 hours.Geraint finished 9th in the old farts class and I finished15th in clubman.
I would ride there again, so that says it all really, pity more of the M17 boys didn’t want to do it, everyone seemed to enjoy it and the air ambulance was not needed.
Fast Si signing off till next time, See you all at Long Mynd.
